What are the common scanning methods of barcode scanner?

The scanning mode of the barcode scanner, also known as the reading mode, scanning mode, refers to a way of reading barcodes by the scanner, by setting the scanner for different scanning modes can be applied to different scenarios. Common barcode scanning gun reading mode has the following kinds of:

Manual reading mode.

Manual reading mode, also known as keypad mode, is one of the most common barcode scan reading modes. In this reading mode, the handheld barcode reader presses the key and then the illumination (aiming light) lights up and the barcode can be read by aligning it with the barcode, when the reading is successful or when the key is released, the illumination (aiming light) goes out and the reading stops. When the barcode is successfully read or when the key is released, the illumination (aiming light) will turn off and stop reading.

Manual reading mode - timeout.

The manual reading mode has another state, that is, after pressing the key trigger and releasing the key again, the barcode reader is still in the reading state, until the barcode is read or the reading timeout is reached, the illumination (aiming light) goes out and then the code reading stops. This reading mode is called "manual reading mode - reading timeout".

Long-light reading mode.

Long light reading mode, also known as continuous reading mode, is usually used in unattended application scenarios to free up part of the human work. In this reading mode, after the barcode reader scanner is set to the constant light (continuous) reading mode, the barcode reader lighting (aiming light) is in a continuous long light state, the barcode reader is in a continuous working state, when a barcode passes by, the barcode reader can obtain and analyse the barcode information. In the long light reading mode, normally an identical barcode can only be read once when placed under the barcode reader, unless it is moved and then re-read through the barcode reader area. Therefore, there are usually two parameters that can be set in this mode. The same barcode reading time interval: refers to the time interval that is allowed to be read if two identical barcodes pass through the reading area of the barcode reader one after another in the long-light reading mode. For example, if the same barcode reading interval time is set to 3S in long bright reading mode, the same barcode will not be read within 3 seconds after the first barcode passes by, and the same barcode can be read after 3 seconds. Different barcode reading time interval: It refers to the time interval allowed to read if two different barcodes pass through the barcode reader reading area successively under the long bright reading mode. If the interval time between different barcode reading in long bright reading mode is set to 3S, after the first barcode passes by, the different barcode will not be read within 3 seconds, and the different barcode can be read after 3 seconds. This function is less used.

Induction mode.

In auto-sensing mode, the reading engine automatically detects the captured image and reads it within the "single reading time" limit when the scene changes, and then re-enters the state of monitoring the scene change after a successful output or timeout.

The induction mode can usually have "two modes" and "four common parameters".

auto sensing barcode scanner

Induction mode - normal mode: In this state, after the scanner gun triggers the induction, a barcode passes by, and after the barcode is read, the aiming light (aiming light) immediately goes out and the next induction is re-entered, or the light goes out after the "word reading time" timeout and the next induction is entered. The barcode reader generally defaults to this mode.

Induction mode - continuous mode: In this state, after the scanner gun triggers the induction, there is a barcode passing, after reading the barcode, the aiming light (aiming light) will not immediately go out, you can continue to read the barcode, no need to sense again, when there is no barcode passing, the light will go out after exceeding the "word reading time" and enter the next induction.

Parameter-Single reading time: This parameter indicates the length of time the barcode can be read before the light goes out after the barcode reader is triggered. If the word reading time is set to 3 seconds, after the barcode reader is triggered, the illumination lamp (aiming lamp) will light up and the barcode can be read within 3 seconds, if the barcode is not read after 3 seconds, the lamp will go out and enter the next sensing state.

Parameter - Steady Image Duration: is the length of time for which the image is stable, the longer the duration, the slower the induction

Parameter - Same barcode reading delay: To avoid the same barcode being read several times in succession in auto-sensing mode, the barcode reader can be required to delay for a set length of time in this mode before allowing the same barcode to be read.

Parameter - Sensitivity: This is used to adjust the degree of change that the reading engine needs to switch to the reading state when it is working in auto-sensing mode and monitoring the degree of change in the scene. The higher the sensitivity, the smaller the change in scene required; conversely the lower the sensitivity, the greater the change in scene required.

Blinking mode.

When the scanner gun is set to flashing reading mode, the light of the scanner gun is in flashing state and the scanner gun starts to detect the change of environment in front of the window. When the scanner gun senses the object (or barcode), the scanner gun is in the long light state, when the barcode is read within the long light timeout, the timeout will be recalculated, if the barcode is not read within the timeout, the scanner gun will enter the blinking state again.

Command Control Mode.

Command control mode, also known as command mode, is when the host computer sends a string of character commands to the barcode reader to control the scanning gun(1D 2D barcode scanner) to read the barcode. Command control mode is similar to manual mode in that manual mode is triggered by the level, whereas command mode is triggered by software. When using command triggering it is often necessary to use USB-HID, USB-COM or RS232 mode again.

The above scanning modes are several common modes ofbarcode scanner, depending on the barcode scan each 1D 2D barcode scan will contain different types of scanning, including but not limited to the above scanning modes.
